Product Description

Product Description

Galvanized steel coil is a premium building material designed for structural and non-structural applications requiring moderate corrosion protection. The coil is hot-dip galvanized to coat a mild steel or high-strength low-alloy steel substrate with a metallurgically bonded zinc layer, creating a protective film against rust. Available in thicknesses from 0.3 to 3.0 mm and widths up to 1500 mm, it offers excellent weldability, formability, and paintability.

Features

Corrosion Protection: A 40 g/m² zinc coating (80 g/m² total zinc content) provides 5-10 years of corrosion protection in rural environments.

Easy to Process: Good ductility and bendability enable cutting, stamping, and rolling into various profiles without flaking.

Paintable Surface: Primer and topcoat coatings are available.

Application

Suitable for a wide range of applications, including structural components, roofing and cladding, fencing and guardrails, and general fabrication.

FAQ

Q: How should galvanized steel be painted?

A: To ensure adhesion, pre-treat with a zinc-rich primer. Even smooth galvanized surfaces should be sanded or chemically etched.

Q: What is the difference between hot-dip galvanizing and electroplating?

A: Hot-dip galvanizing forms a thicker metallurgical bond layer with a rougher texture, while electroplating produces a thinner coating with a smoother surface.

Q: Will galvanized steel rust after cutting?

A: Cut edges are susceptible to rust; applying zinc touch-up paint or edge sealant is recommended to prevent rust.
